When you call a plumber into your home, you deserve to know they’re properly qualified, fully licenced, and insured to do the job right. I’m Dylan Attard, the owner and operator of TrueFlow Plumbing and Drains, and I’ve been a licenced plumber on the Central Coast since 2018. This page lays out my qualifications, licencing, accreditations, and the equipment I use, because I believe you should be able to verify exactly who you’re trusting with your home before you book.
Dylan Attard — Qualifications & Training
I completed my Certificate III in Plumbing through a nationally accredited training provider, covering all core competency streams: sanitary plumbing, drainage, gasfitting, and water supply. The Certificate III in Plumbing is the nationally recognised qualification required to work as a plumber in Australia, and it’s earned through a combination of structured classroom training and hands-on practical experience during a four-year apprenticeship under the supervision of a licenced plumber.
During my apprenticeship, I gained practical experience across every area of residential and light commercial plumbing, from fitting off new homes and renovations to diagnosing and repairing faults in ageing plumbing systems. That hands-on training is where the real learning happens, and it’s the foundation of every job I complete today.
Since completing my formal training, I’ve continued to develop my skills through industry courses, manufacturer training, and the ongoing professional development required to maintain my Master Plumbers Association accreditation. Plumbing standards, products, and regulations evolve regularly, and I make it a priority to stay current so my customers always receive work that meets or exceeds the latest requirements. You can learn more about the warranties I offer here.

NSW Plumbing Licence
TrueFlow Plumbing and Drains operates under NSW Plumbing Licence No. 457032C, issued by NSW Fair Trading (now administered by the Building Commission NSW). This licence authorises me to carry out and contract plumbing, drainage, and gasfitting work across New South Wales.
In NSW, it’s a legal requirement to hold the correct licence before carrying out any specialist plumbing, draining, or gasfitting work. A contractor licence is required for any residential building or trade work valued at more than $5,000 in labour and materials. Using an unlicensed plumber means the work may not comply with Australian Standards, you won’t be protected by statutory warranties under the Home Building Act 1989, and you could face difficulties with insurance claims if something goes wrong.
What Our Licence Covers
Our licence covers all the plumbing services TrueFlow offers across the Central Coast, including water supply plumbing (taps, mixers, valves, water heaters, water filters, backflow prevention), sanitary plumbing (toilets, basins, showers, baths, floor wastes), drainage (stormwater, sewer, and sullage drains, CCTV inspection, high-pressure water jetting), gasfitting (gas appliance installation, gas line repairs, leak detection, compliance certificates), and roof plumbing (gutters, downpipes, flashing, fascia covers, roof vents).
All gas work I complete is done in accordance with AS/NZS 5601 (Gas Installations) and current NSW gas regulations. I issue a compliance certificate for every gas installation, which is a legal requirement in New South Wales and provides you with documentation that the work has been inspected and meets all applicable standards.
How to Verify Our Licence
You can verify any plumber’s licence in NSW through the Service NSW licence check tool. Simply search for the licence number (ours is 457032C) or the business name to confirm that the licence is current, the categories of work it covers, and any conditions or restrictions. I’d encourage every homeowner to check their plumber’s credentials before booking, it takes less than a minute and protects you from unlicensed operators.
Master Plumbers Association Accreditation
TrueFlow Plumbing and Drains is an accredited member of the Master Plumbers Association of NSW (MPA NSW). The Master Plumbers Association is the peak industry body representing plumbing contractors in New South Wales, and it has been advocating for professional standards in the plumbing industry since 1895.
Membership of the Master Plumbers Association isn’t automatic, it requires holding a current NSW plumbing licence, maintaining appropriate insurance, and demonstrating a commitment to professional standards and ethical business practices. When you see the Master Plumbers logo, it means the plumber has been verified by the industry’s own peak body.
What MPA Membership Means for You
Choosing a Master Plumber gives you an additional layer of assurance beyond the basic licence requirement. MPA members commit to maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and professional conduct, carrying appropriate levels of insurance, staying current with regulatory changes and industry best practices through ongoing professional development, and operating ethically and transparently in all customer dealings.
The MPA also provides a dispute resolution pathway for consumers. If you ever have an issue with work performed by an MPA member that can’t be resolved directly, the Association can assist with mediation, an extra layer of consumer protection you don’t get with unaccredited plumbers.
Insurance & Compliance
TrueFlow Plumbing carries comprehensive public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance. This means that in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during a plumbing job, accidental property damage, water damage from a burst connection, or any other unforeseen issue, you’re fully protected. I can provide a copy of my certificate of currency on request.
All plumbing work I complete complies with the Plumbing Code of Australia, relevant Australian Standards (including AS/NZS 3500 for plumbing and drainage, and AS/NZS 5601 for gas installations), the NSW Home Building Act 1989, and local council requirements within the Central Coast Council region. I only install products that carry WaterMark certification and meet WELS water efficiency standards, as required under Australian plumbing regulations. If a product doesn’t have the WaterMark, I won’t install it, even if you’ve already purchased it.
Equipment & Technology
Having the right qualifications is only part of the equation. Using professional-grade equipment ensures I can diagnose problems accurately, complete work efficiently, and deliver results that last. Here’s the technology I use on the job:
Drain Diagnostics
I use CCTV drain cameras to inspect the inside of pipes and drainage systems without digging. The camera provides real-time footage that shows the exact location and nature of a blockage, crack, tree root intrusion, or structural defect. You’ll see the footage on screen so you understand exactly what’s happening before we discuss your options. For clearing blockages, I use high-pressure water jetting equipment that removes grease, debris, and tree roots from pipes without damaging the pipe walls. This is the same technology used by commercial plumbing operations and council maintenance crews.
Leak Detection
Finding hidden leaks without unnecessary demolition is a key part of modern plumbing. I use a combination of acoustic listening equipment, moisture meters, and pressure testing to locate leaks in concealed pipes, behind walls, and under slabs. Accurate leak detection means less disruption to your home and more targeted repairs.
Gas Detection & Testing
All gas work requires precision testing equipment. I carry calibrated gas leak detectors and manometers for pressure testing gas lines to Australian Standards. Every gas installation and repair is pressure-tested before sign-off and documented with a compliance certificate.
General Plumbing
Beyond specialist equipment, I carry a fully stocked work vehicle with professional-grade tools for every type of plumbing repair and installation. From pipe threading and pressing equipment to specialised fittings for hot water systems, I arrive prepared to handle the job without return trips for parts. That’s part of how I keep my per-job pricing competitive, efficient preparation means less time on site and lower costs for you.
